Our Story
Legacy of Glory Ministries was founded over 60 years ago by Dr. Ernest Leonard, a visionary leader whose life and ministry were marked by faith, dedication, and a heart for people. What began as a small congregation in Newark, NJ, has grown into a global ministry impacting thousands through teaching, outreach, and service.
From the very beginning, Dr. Leonard was driven by a single purpose: to help people experience the love and power of God in their everyday lives. He believed that God’s Word could transform families, communities, and nations, and he dedicated his life to proclaiming it boldly through preaching, teaching, and media outreach.
Throughout the decades, God’s faithfulness has been evident in countless lives—people healed, set free, and empowered to walk in their God-given purpose. Dr. Leonard pioneered the use of radio and television to reach audiences far beyond church walls, started schools to nurture children in faith and excellence, and trained leaders to carry the vision forward.
Today, Legacy of Glory Ministries continues that mission across multiple campuses, equipping people of all ages to grow in relationship with the Lord, discover their purpose, and impact the world. Ministry Timeline
1958 – Called into Ministry
Dr. Ernest Leonard was called into ministry and placed into the pastorate of a Baptist church in Newark, NJ.
1965 – Founded Victory Temple National Holiness Church
At age 27, Dr. Leonard started a congregation with a few members, laying the foundation for what would become a global ministry.
1977 – Elevated to Bishop
Recognized for his leadership and dedication, Dr. Leonard was elevated to Bishop in Fitchburg, MA.
1980s – Radio & TV Ministry Launch
Launched The Hour of Jubilee, later The Hour of Restoration, broadcast on BET and The Word Network, reaching millions globally.
1986 – Victory Christian Academy / Provision of Promise Academy
Opened a school to provide academic excellence rooted in biblical principles, preparing children to grow in faith and knowledge.
1991 – Publicly Affirmed as Apostle
Affirmed as a five-fold ministry Apostle; ministry expanded to multiple campuses.
1997 – Reaching Your Cities for God Prayer Network
Mobilized prayer locally and nationally, uniting people from every denomination.
2006 – Cornelius Connection International Network
Expanded mentorship and outreach internationally through conferences and ministry training.
2014 – Transition to Heavenly Rest
Dr. Leonard transitioned, entrusting the ministry to his son, Apostle Joseph Leonard, and the family of leaders he raised.
